I figure it could be drag. After doing the oiling it didn't really seem to improve in the audio department, and didn't cure the auto reverse. So to try to fix the audio speed issue I did some research and found out about oiling the capstains, did that. Reverse playback the heads engage but one of the reels doesn't spin and the tape ends up unwinding down near the capstan. It seems to work with tape winding functions, and forward playback. I hope the belt isn't too tight, could this be a thing? The working path is basically outside of all pulleys. I tried the belts the two ways I could see them on, one path works and one doesn't. ![]() Given the originals were in such bad condition I'm not absolutely sure of the original belt path, or proper measurements. So after attempted measurement I ordered a pair of 9.6", 1/16" square belts. It's a Sony TC-WR710.įirst issue was the belts were goo. A friend playing with cassette decks got me thinking about bringing the deck from my childhood back to life. ![]()
